The author of the project idea was the adviser of the Minister of Economics of the Sverdlovsk region D. Kalaev. The idea was discussed on the Internet, almost 11 thousand people took part in its discussion, which determined by voting what attractions will be included in the route.
The nonprofit project was implemented by volunteers of Yekaterinburg with the support of entrepreneurs and city administration, the organizers included "the father of the Ural Internet" Evgeny Zorin. The route of the traffic is painted red on the sidewalks of the central part of the city of Yekaterinburg, the points of sightseeing are marked by numbering, also painted on the pavement, which, in the presence of a guidebook, allows you to navigate the route and without the help of a guide.
The length of the Red Line of Yekaterinburg is about six and a half kilometers.
